Twilight

I recently got an email from a concerned parent about the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer.
My own daughter is currently reading them right now....however she is 17.
I'd like some discussion about this.
Is this book and series appropriate for 6th graders to read?
I know a lot of you have read them, or are planning to read them.
What do you think?
